SMS &
Mobile Services
About SMS
SMS is basically another word for text messaging. Everybody
who has a mobile phone has the ability to send and receive
SMS/text messages.
Premium SMS
generates revenue for you much like Premium Rate numbers. We
provide you with a Premium Rate shortcode and a keyword
(e.g. 69696 sexchat) and you get paid revenue per text
message. Our shortcodes cover Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile and
Orange, Three & Virgin.
Customers are
charged for receiving messages on their mobile phones rather
than for sending them. For example if somebody sends a text
message to chat to a girl they are actually billed when they
receive the reply thanking them for entering. When they send
the text message they will put a keyword as the first word
of the message, which is why you see the services
advertising "send SEXCHAT to 69696". So SEXCHAT is what the
caller types into the message and 69696 is the number they
send it to, the shortcode.
This keyword has 2 functions:
1. It tells us which service this message should be sent to
e.g. competition or chat.
2. Each keyword is allocated to only one of our customers,
so we are then able to know who is promoting the service and
how much to pay them. We currently only operate a £1.50
shortcode. Payouts vary between 50p - 65p per message
depending on what the service is. For example, if 1000
people enter a competition at £1.50, your revenue would be
65p x 1000 = £650.
